Iraq Has Lost $11.35 Billion Due Damage to Oil Facilities, Lost Exports, Official Says
The Associated Press -
Iraq has lost about $11.35 billion because of damage to oil sector infrastructure and lost revenue since petroleum exports resumed after the U.S.-led invasion two years ago, an Iraqi oil ministry spokesman said Sunday. Assem Jihad told Dow Jones Newswires that there had been 300 acts of sabotage against Iraqi oil installations. He said 70 acts of sabotage took place in the first five months of 2005...

Iraq Rife With Weekend Attacks As Violence Continues To Cripple Occupation Forces - A host of attacks were reported inside Iraq over the weekend as resistance forces continue to gain momentum against the US invaders, with increasingly more organized and more deadly attacks after two years of battling the occupation. Iraqi government worried about civilian killings by US fire - 'The prime minister will take up this matter at the highest level,' spokesman Leith Kubba told reporters, citing the case of Yasser al-Salihy, an employee of US media group Knight Ridder. America talks: but are these the real rebel leaders?- 'It is difficult to know which of these guys can speak with any authority,' a senior Washington official said last week. 'It’s all pretty ambivalent and we have no confidence in any figure we see on the number of insurgents represented.' Washington
now faces a no-win situation in Iraq- America is facing
the real possibility of defeat in Iraq. The insurgency is as robust and
as lethal as ever. U.S. troops are overstretched and thin on the ground,
while Iraqi troops are far from ready to replace them. Sectarian violence
is on the rise, suggesting that civil war is just round the corner.

Israeli president fears Sharon assassination - JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli President Moshe Katsav said on Monday the vocal opposition of pro-settler rabbis to Israel's Gaza pullout could incite ultranationalists to try to assassinate Prime Minister Ariel Sharon Bush cool on climate deal, offers Blair no favors - "If this looks like Kyoto, the answer is 'no'. The Kyoto treaty would have wrecked our economy," Bush said in the interview, which was recorded last Wednesday and will be broadcast later on Monday. While Blair has made headway on Africa, he has been stymied on climate change by the United States, the world's biggest polluter, which has been grudging in even accepting the world is warming and has not signed up to the Kyoto Protocol. US cries foul over China fair play - Congress has not prevented other foreign state-owned companies from buying US assets and by specifically targeting a Chinese state-owned company, it is Washington's lawmakers who would be – and rightly so – accused of violating the rules and the spirit of global capitalism.

Gladio-Styled “Strategy of Tension” Spawning Islamic Terrorism? Kurt Nimmo, Another Day in the Empire - As it turns out, Osama Moustafa Hassan Nasr, who was reportedly abducted in Milan on February 17, 2003, was a CIA informant, according to Albanian intelligence officials. “Why would the U.S. government go to elaborate lengths to seize a 39-year-old Egyptian who, according to former Albanian intelligence officials, was once the CIA’s most productive source of information within the tightly knit group of Islamic fundamentalists living in exile in Albania?” muses the Chicago Tribune. Italian prosecutors seem to believe Nasr had wandered and the CIA wanted to “turn him back into the informer he once was.” Maybe. However, there is also the possibility the CIA (and there is evidence the abduction has nothing to do with the CIA) wanted to make sure Nasr didn’t spill the beans on their covert activities. Italian prosecutors are discovering some interesting links as they probe the Nasr abduction... US accused of excessive secrecy - 'You'd just be amazed at the kind of information that's classified - everyday information, things we all know from the newspaper,' the former Republican governor of New Jersey and head of the 9/11 commission, Thomas Kean, told the New York Times. SOLOMON: Mourn On The Fourth Of July- Ever since the Vietnam War, the Fourth of July has seemed to be a celebration of the past in the midst of a distinctly un-glorious present. In 2005, as in 1965, 'bombs bursting in air' is the context of current realities.

Even before a single vote had been cast, America had already decided to dismiss the Iranian presidential election. Bush said, “Power is in the hands of an unelected few who have retained power through an electoral process that ignores the basic requirements of democracy.” After the election, America was quick to describe the electoral process as flawed and that Iran was out of step with moves towards democracy in the region.

Comrade Raimondo Seeks a Scapegoat - by Israel Shamir
Whilst I oppose the Act of War, I also defend and support the brave men and women who lay down their lives so that we may be free. To send a man or women to die is a huge responsibility, to take that decision over a lie is an act of murder. It defiles the sacrifices made by soldiers throughout the ages, it insults the memories of those who have fallen so that we may be free. To send men and women off to die ill equipped is tantamount to murder. To abuse their commitment and manipulate their belief systems for a lie is criminal. To order these brave men and women to kill for a lie is the most hideous evil comprehendable to man.www.djpauledge.com/blog.php?id=96 The Super Rich Are Out Of Sight - contributed by Eric G |
