The Importance Of The Occupy Movement

People of all walks of life are highly motivated -- students, teachers, seniors, workers, the unemployed, the homeless, veterans, civilians, unions and the list is endless. All have joined hands to voice their frustration, their grievances at a corrupt system that begs for change.

During this time of escalating cruelty and corruption waged against humanity, the Occupy protest movement in all it's combined glory -- which is now global -- is a compelling force that will not be denied. Indeed, Gerald Celente's "Revolution or Renaissance" is ringing in our ears. It's also a lesson that freedom and public dissent is often met with intimidation, violence and scorn.
So here we stand together, the good people of the world, overwhelmingly fed-up at being shunned like colonies of lepers by those of high society who have no social conscience whatsoever and are devoid of any ethical or moral scruples. At the outset of this movement in New York, it was widely seen on national television while the kingpins of power -- the greedy Wall Street goblins responsible for crashing our economy -- ate caviar and toasted champagne from their 2nd floor balcony with smiles and smirks. As I witnessed this arrogant image, a sobering thought crossed my mind -- in many other countries not so peaceful as ours, this would have been the perfect time to lob a grenade.
And although the Occupy movement (thus far) has not had the ferociousness of an Arab Spring, it has had its moments when many protesters were arrested, beaten up, pepper sprayed and injured by police. On October 25, Scott Olsen, a young Gulf War Marine Veteran who honorably served two tours in Iraq, became a victim of jackboot brutality when police shot him in the head with a tear-gas canister in Oakland, California, as he peacefully exercised his first amendment rights. The police may say this was an accident, but most of us know better. As I'm sure Scott would agree, the moral of this story is strikingly clear: The real battle for freedom, justice and equality of life is being waged here at home. Not in distant lands.
Indeed, the 99% Occupy populace is a gathering storm that is quickly spreading across the globe with more than 1,000 cities participating in solidarity. Our strength in numbers is ostensibly guaranteed to disrupt business as usual for the slim 1% fat cats. In fact, many banks, financial institutions and brokerage firms, etc., are already feeling the boiler pressure rise as customer accounts, monies and investments are withdrawn, and their businesses increasingly bombarded with protestors.

Multiple agendas have flourished onto colorful protest signs: end the fed, honor and abide the constitution, no more bailouts, tax the rich, end the wars, prosecute Wall Street and corporate criminals, better health care, job creation, take corporate money out of politics and elections, protect civil liberties, stop human rights abuses and violations, abolish rendition and torturing, no more illegal wire-tapping and spying on American citizens, end the drone strikes, end the US Patriot Act, abolish GMO foods and crops, ban flouride and other dangerous toxins in water supplies, reopen a new investigation of the events of 9/11 -- and this is only a small adage that perpetuates the enamored juggernaut of those taking to the streets.
