CONVERSATIONS (8) Emptying the Cup / Initiating Change in others

by Luc Majno on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 2:17pm

INTERVIEWER:  I want to talk a little bit more about what you call ‘emptying your cup’, in order for Teachings to settle in and also what you think the outcome will be, is that OK? It’s so fascinating to me, because it is so unlike the way my Culture thinks!

STANDING WOLF:  That’s a big one! (smile)  Two parts:  First part is erasure. I think when you look at it, it’s all about erasure of the ‘self’, and that is what scares so many of us. You see, it is not about not thinking of yourself anymore, and depriving yourself of something in order to give it to someone else. Believe it or not, it is the opposite. When you start doing things for others, little things, small things, opening the door for an Elderly Woman, or letting someone order first, before you, in the line–up, even though you are REALLY hungry  It is small gestures like this (he pauses and puts his head down) ‘of the Heart’ that first of all, are contageous (laughter), but more importantly, they release you of today’s tension; It is a way of throwing off the negative, and inviting the Positive. You start this way, and pretty soon, you are going out of your way for others, you eventually plan for others, in and around yourself, and you ‘grow’ in this way–of–thinking, and it really becomes yours, in a way…  and then, there is, as you say so well, a change in our behaviour…  It may be as slow as the seasons to start, but the important thing is, that it is THERE. And then you become a model for others to follow.

The Second part really goes automatically when part one is initiated. Part two is about letting go of what you know.  It’s all about wanting to learn so bad, you can taste it. It is all about putting other people’s KNOWLEDEGE on a pedestal, not THEM!! (laughter as he slaps his knee)  Really!  Once you want to learn, all of a sudden the focus is not on ‘what I know’ anymore, but ‘what can I learn?  What can I do for YOU? (instead of me) You start focussing outwardly, instead of keeping that heavy rock inside you with a chain on it, and it slows you down so much, and it is soooo heavy!! , but you are so proud of having this ego–‘boulder’, and you will not give it up!!  This is the ‘self–server’ and we find this most around the big–bucks, and people with either material wealth, or those who are well off, and do not ‘need’ you or anyone else… (smile) Like the ‘big governments’… The ones who made up all those ‘laws’ for us to follow.…  Money has really done a lot of damage to us, and to the Invading culture. I am sorry, am I babbling? Have I answered your questions?

INTERVIEWER: Absolutely, and more! It seems like you want to ‘tell a story’ instead of just giving a stale reply

STANDING WOLF: Well then you must know our Culture, because that is how we operate, especially with the Young Ones They come to you wanting to learn, as we just spoke of, and you ‘tell them a story’ instead, and the answer is ‘hidden’ inside there somewhere.  :)
