American Report Warns Of Israeli Pullout Cancellation
Jun 28, 2005
Source: Palestine Information Centre

The Palestinian Al-Manar newspaper, published in the green line (1948 occupied Palestinian lands), uncovered an American security report received ten days ago by the US administration and prepared by American political and intelligence teams that visited the area solely to evaluate security condition in Israel and the PA-controlled territories.

Arab sources, who viewed excerpts of the said report, told Al-Manar that the report looks at the Israeli political arena as more stable since Ariel Sharon, Israeli premier, successfully prevailed over his political opponents and was able to maneuver flexibly as he recruited huge forces to ensure a safe pullout of the Gaza Strip, the newspaper said.

"On the other hand, the report viewed the situation on the Palestinian side as disturbing, especially in the West Bank, while the condition in Gaza Strip needed more control to ensure a peaceful pullout of the Strip", it added.

The report expressed deep concern over possible Palestinian armed operations in the Israeli depth prior or during the intended the pullout, thus tremendous efforts must be done to prevent such possible incidents that may be carried out by factions moved by certain goals, according to the report's words.

The report listed 23 demands the PA must do as soon as possible to ensure stability in its institutions, pointing out that the success of the pullout needs active and continuous coordination between the Israeli and Palestinian sides under American patronage and other key players in the region, otherwise, the pullout plan won't see the light.
