It is time for Asia to use its stronger voice to take a more prominent role in this new world order. The progression from the Western-dominated G8 to a more inclusive G20, with meaningful positions for leading Asian economies, rightly reflects the shift to a new equilibrium in which Asia has much greater weight.

supremes means that it will be impossible to make that distinction

You read that headline correctly. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration is financing oil exploration off Brazil.
The Obama Administration has about six weeks to completely renounce
its simulacra of reform in the nation’s finances, healthcare and
military affairs, or it is doomed to repudiation and defeat in the
November 2010 elections.
What is abundantly clear is that the Obama Administration’s central
strategy is to offer facsimiles of reform as ‘the real thing’: the
classic definition of simulacra as described in– Survival+
You probably don’t have a savings account or credit card to tap to go
live in a hotel for awhile – – even if there were enough hotels left
standing to get a room. You might try to stay with friends or
relatives in the countryside (where, in Haiti, most people live on
less than $2 a day). Or you might decide to flee across the border to
Canada or Mexico, but you’ll likely be turned back. If you do make it
out, you’ll need to find a friend or relative to take you in. You’ll
also have to figure out how to get there.
My comment: We’ve had our Katrina, but certainly a nationwide Katrina–like event is not out of the question.
