Appealing to our Humanity

My friends, this is an Appeal of a different kind, this is an Appeal to our Humanity. An Appeal we cannot go without.  It is an Appeal to the best in all of us that seeks comfort, a home, family, security, no matter how or where or from whom it comes, in all forms, all Cultures, all Human Beings.

We must put our best foot forward in trying to understand our differences, in Peace. Who wants war?  Who would want the death or injury of a loved one?

We must all work for the common goal that each one of us seeks, regardless of our Creed, Color, Race, whatever.  Is it not fair that we should all inherit a part of this small planet in the way we choose to live?  We are all different in all aspects.  We are like the snowflakes. None of us are alike.  This alone should be cause for Celebration.

The First Nations Peoples, The First Peoples, greeted us on their shores, this we all know. Without their generosity and knowledge of the land that they flourished on for time immemorial, we would have perished long ago.

The First People are not like us.

They do not think like us, they do not want the same things we do. They live simply, in Harmony with All living things, to the best of their capabilities.

They strive to protect the Generations yet unborn.  They have the keys to Mother Nature's Survival, and our own.

They will not be pushed to their limit.  They will not fire a shot in anger.  The only thing they will do, is shoot the chance for all of us to sustain and maintain Peace for as long as we want it.

We cannot keep on going as if this Earth was our own, and subject to our Dominion. We cannot go on and cut the very hands that greeted and fed us when we were hungry.

I would only ask one thing.  That all of us go to sleep tonight, thinking about our future, where we would want our unborn children to come into this world, and what kind of world we want to make for them.  Would we not want to say to them:  "Look, this is what we have accomplished for you, because we love you!"?  It is up to us, and only us to be Honorable, and do what in our hearts we want and we know to be right.

Peace and Love speak alot louder than ammunition and blood on the ground, my friends.

Mister Harper, if you are still reading this letter down to this point, please do not repeat the actions of the past.  Does anyone know what is written on the pillar of the Library of Congress in the US?

PAST IS PROLOGUE.

In may of 2004, I sent a letter to Mr. Paul Martin with a picture, the one below, the saddest moment of my life until now, of what went on and what is going on in British Columbia, as we speak.

The government of Canada had decided, at the time I wrote my letter, that the Skwelkwelk'welt First Nation, among others, were «no longer allowed beyond this point», an imaginitive line drawn by greed and racism, in the «High Alpines», in the Mountains, so that Sun Peaks Resort could expand their bedding units, cabins, and golf courses, owned by a Japanese company, Nippon Cable.  Please take the time to look at this picture that I attached, it was taken by a Tribe member.  Look at it.

These People are suffering the same fate as every other First Nations Community in this country and the one south of us, because of our lack of understanding, ignorance, and contempt for their different way of Life.  We cannot understand it, so it is wrong.  Is it really?

I will sleep well tonight, because  I have tried to make an Appeal to the hearts and minds of all of us, One Mind, One Body, One Peoples.

If we cut ourselves, we bleed the same way, the same color.  If we take the time to try and undo what has been done in the past, we will reap these rewards forever.

What better gift to give to our children, their children, and the children after theirs, for Seven Generations? Why Seven Generations?  Because that is what the First Nations People we have at gun point are thinking about and are protecting their inheritance for.  Not in their own interests.

We did not know this before.

Have we asked them?  Come, sit down at the table, and let us talk together.

In Peace.

Sincerely Yours,

Luc Majno
