» The Next War.. Daniel Ellsberg, Harper's Magazine A hidden crisis is under way. Many government insiders are aware of serious plans for war with Iran, but Congress and the public remain largely in the dark. The current situation is very like that of 1964, the year preceding our overt, openended escalation of the Vietnam War, and 2002, the year leading up to the U.S. invasion of Iraq. In both cases, if one or more conscientious insiders had closed the information gap with unauthorized disclosures to the public, a disastrous war might have been averted entirely.

The Limits of Liberty: We're All Suspects Now .. By Henry Porter Identity cards. Numberplate surveillance. CCTV. Control orders. The list of ways in which the Government has sought to manipulate and define the limits of our liberty grows ever longer. Ten years ago, the novelist and polemicist Henry Porter would have felt silly speaking out about human rights in Britain. But that was before the most fundamental assault on personal freedom ever undertaken. Now, he argues, it's time we woke up to reality.

People's civil liberties have been usurped in the name of ‘security’. Yet those posing the most danger to Canadian security and values are the very people claiming to protect them.

»Schlimazls & Priestesses...by Israel Shamir
» Corrode Your Conformity: Big Brother Doesn’t Practice Fraternal Love...'I am sending you my latest disquisition. In this piece I analyze and expound upon the distinction between the republicans and the federalists amongst the founding fathers, the evolution of predatory capitalism in the United States, and the fact that the US moneyed elite have long employed economic tyranny to maintain their virtual monopoly on power despite the impediment of a political system which affords a degree of democracy to "the masses". I conclude that the Military Commissions Act provides the means for the US plutocracy to employ political authoritarianism to complement their economic domination of the poor and working class. I also assert that a revolution (whether it is nonࡆviolent or otherwise) is necessary and inevitable.
I offer it to you for publication. I think it will (at least) induce readers to pause and spend some time reflecting.'

Author Stan Goff, a retired 26-year veteran of the U.S. Army Special Forces, sounds a warning call that many of the historical precursors of fascism–white supremacy, militarization of culture, vigilantism, masculine fear of female power, xenophobia and economic destabilization – are ascendant in America today
