Klaus: EU po Lisabonu je v nejvážnější krizi své historie

Prague - The EU is facing the biggest crisis in its history after Lisbon Treaty was passed and civic and economic freedom is seriously threatened again, Czech President Vaclav Klaus said in his message to the national congress of the extra-parliamentary Free Citizens' Party (SSO) today.

Klaus, founder of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), is now close to the SSO.

 

Klaus and the SSO have criticised the Lisbon Treaty. After much reluctance, Klaus eventually signed it, but the Czech Republic was the last EU member to have done so.

Klaus wrote to the delegates that he fears for freedom.

 

"Under the slogan of struggle with economic crisis regulatory tendencies are gaining ground and the post-Lisbon EU is gripped with the most serious crisis in its previous history, while the impact of climatic alarmism is quite obvious," Klaus wrote.

 

The SSO rejects the transfer of further powers to Brussels. The position is shared by Klaus.

 

The party says more freedom is the quickest path towards the return of economic growth.

 

The party's poll ratings are far below the 5-percent threshold required to enter the Chamber of Deputies.
